I'd like to have job that is related to arts in the UK. What is the good one for an immigrant?

Vickie Sterbenz: I'm 24 years old and just graduated from a college. I love doing everything that is related to arts, like dancing, designing, painting, acting, singing, and many stuffs that require creativity. I'm going to be off to the Indian in couple years, and now I'm like "What will I do for living there?". I don't have any idea about that. Now I'm going to take some undergraduate course in graphic designing but I'm not sure it would be easy for me to apply for that kind of job in the Insia. I'm considering about trying performing arts....Show more

Sharie Sommerville: You're considering trying performing arts? Don't bother. You'll need a work visa to emigrate to the UK, no? Work visas are issued based on the needs of the UK economy -- IOW, if British employers can't find any British workers in the UK who are qualified for a job, then -- and only then -- they can sponsor a foreigner for a work visa to bring them into the country to do the job. If the British ! job market is anything like the U.S. job market, qualified employees with scientific, medical, engineering and technical skills are in short supply, and if you have skills and education in those areas you can get a work visa to emigrate to the UK and live there.Aspiring actors, singers, dancers, designers and painters are NOT in short supply either in the US or the UK, and employers don't need to sponsor foreigners for work visas to fill those jobs -- there is already more than enough local talent for that. If you really want to emigrate to Britain, go to university and get your degree in engineering, or nursing, or computer science. Then you'll have no trouble getting a job there....Show more
