Which description best fits a single action handgun?

Iris Shawcroft: I don't like the question because it is "tricky." Choice C is a technically correct answer while Choice A is a correct answer conventionally. The term single-action handgun is conventionally applied to single-action revolvers. The single action referred to is that caused when the trigger is pressed causing a sear to release the hammer under spring tension to fall and strike, firing the handgun. The problem is that the same identical process applies to the functioning of a single barrel hammer pistol, such as a duelling pistol. ....Show more

Karey Dunken: out of the possible choices, i would say letter C because when you pull the hammer back, it gets rid of some of the lbs on the trigger pull.EDITit can't be (A) because pistols can be single action, it can't be (B) because revolvers aren't semi-automatic, and it can't be (D) because a single action handgun can have more than one round....Show more

Glynda Darrin: Single action means that it ! has to be manually c.ocked for each round to fire. Based on your choices, I would choose choice A.
