Shemeka Laker: depends on the family. My kids are in a joint family and it works well for them. They always have someone to talk to and someone they can count on. Although I am the mom I am always that person.
Peter Lapoint: I think that it depends on the environment. If the parents in the joint family are arguing constantly & being bad to each other, then that is not a healthy environment to the children. They teach those children that it is not only ok to scream at your loved one, but you should stay in an unhealthy marraige even when the love is long gone. A child can be 100x happier & healthier in a single family in this instance. It honestly differs on an case by case basis. Saying that a joint family or a single family is automatically better is not fair. There are joint families that are happy & healthy, but there are just as many single families that are doing just as well on their own....Show more
Carolin Southers: It depends on the family. I kicked! my ex out when our son was less than 12 months old. i didn't want my son to grow up in an unloving, argumentive atmosphere. Sometimes single families are better.

Joey Mekeel: I think that nuclear families have significant problems with support. They tend to be inefficient, (Both parents have to work, one parent has less to do) They tend to be isolating (What happens in the family stays in the family includes the stresses of life). If you have a good family it can be a check againt abuse. Furthermore abuse is an issue of power, when there is a potential for power at home as an advisor or whatnot, that might prevent the abuse in the first place....Show more
