Which homemade laundry soap is better?

An Cardine: We were instructed to pour a cup or so of powdered yeast down the drain once a month to hold the septic tank bacteria healthy so it did what a septic tank is supose to do. He under no circumstances acknowledged any designated soap. We by no means had any problems with it and simply had it cleaned out about as soon as every 2-three years.

Merna Fauset: I have been making my own laundry detergent for a few years now.I tried different reciped & different soaps.I got to tell you, the one I stuck with is Zote.I do not make that big a deal of the recipe I use.Zote soap has optical brighteners, which Fels-Naptha does not. And Fels leaves a nasty smell on the clothes, esp. if you lay the clothes to dry or dry them outside. Now I would like to say that Zote now has flakes:http://laundry.about.com/od/HomemadeProducts/gr/Zo...And I would strongly recommend using this (I use only 2 tablespoons of it per full load of laundry) instead of! anything else. It cannot be found where I live, but maybe your local Walmart sells it.What I do is just grate up the Zote & use 2 or 3 tablespoons per load of laundry. I do not mix it with anything else & my clothes come out clean & they do not smell funky. If you want to experiment, I suggest using what is working for you. You got to remember that not all waters are the same--I myself am on well-water, which makes a big difference--& you may need to add things to your detergent depending on where you live. You can e-mail me with more ?? if you wish.I also have to say that Fels & castile left my whites dingy & did not get out a lot of stains. But I don't have that problem with Zote....Show more

Chastity Doderer: I never use home made I prefer nice soap suds that will actually wash niceAnd make it smell nice too
