Bailey Lares: I don't have many ideas on this, I know my wedding itself is so far under $1000 not including parties and everything. But what helped my Marine and I plan for our wedding because we both wanted to participate was this website. It helps you keep close track of your budget and the things you usually would do for a wedding. Good luck and congrats! http://www.myweddingworkbook.com/...Show more
Willa Holte: Mallory.....you don't need any of our help or suggestions....what you have suggested IS a beautiful and affordable wedding! You are off to a great start. Know that the biggest expense of a wedding is NOT the ceremony...it's the reception. ~ Keep your guest list small.~ Keep your bridal party small. This avoids lots of stress; cuts down on the number of gifts you need to purchase for your attendants; and cuts down on the cost of the rehearsal dinner.~ DON'T go overboard with decorations. Your park setting sounds beautiful as it is.~ If you want, you can! do something with the "outdoorsy" theme for centerpieces, such as a small potted plant. But I would definitely keep it minimal. OR....a few flowers in a colorful vase. But keep it very small and understated. It sounds wonderful to me. Congrats and good luck!...Show more
Minh Lefrancois: I would say pick a time of the year that its warm. Maybe do an evening wedding like 6:30 or 7, that way you can serve something like deserts and fresh fruit at your reception rather then a full meal...that'll really cut down on the cost. Also flowers can be expensive so I would suggest for your reception doing lots of candles since they can be bought in bulk and are a reasonble price. For our wedding this up coming summer to save on the cost for our center pieces we're using a wide variety of clear vases. They are all different sizes and shapes. They are vases that we found at Wal-mart, garage sales, and Goodwill. If you do decide to you flowers...for your reception and for the! flowers in your bouquets I'd suggest using silk flowers. The! y're cheaper and you could arrange them your self if you felt comfortbale doing that. I've found that Hobby Lobby has a decent selection of silk flowers that dong look tacky at all. I would suggest however not skimping on your photographer...thats the one thing you'll have from you wedding to remember that day and the last thing you want is bad photographs. Good luck...I hope this helps...and I'm sure your wedding will be absolutly beautiful....Show more
Russell Mckinzie: that's a great idea, congratulations for you !
Julienne Poplawski: You've got wonderful ideas! Forget about the over-used word "tacky", because people say that too much to make brides miserable and confused. Just do anything and everything that will make your wedding beautiful, yet inexpensive. Working at a restaurant does have lots of advantages when it comes to planning a wedding. For instance, you can check with the restaurant if they would be willing to cater your wedding at a "specia! l" rate, because you're their employee. Or you also have the option of asking your co-workers to cater your wedding, since they have a very good background already in food service. You probably also know the right suppliers where to get your ingredients for a good price. And of course, there's a very big chance that you do understand what kinds of foods would be good for your budget. Don't miss out the freebies around you, however. You may have access to the 30% discount Mr. Smith offers on the apples for your pies and salad, but don't forget Aunt Mary's apple trees, due to give just as nice apples on your wedding week... for free. You don't have to buy one cheap blossom at the market for your bouquet, if Grandma has various kinds of beautiful flowers in her garden, willing to be your bouquet for free. DIY what you can. Invitations, for example, are a lot cheaper designed and printed out from your very own PC at home, than ordered elsewhere. Get a free wedding we! bsite, so you can post all the other details online (such as map, brida! l party, menu, etc), instead of printing them on extra cards....Show more
May Stands: im not sure if this sounds tacky or not u can decide. My mom and stepdad made little wishing wells as the center piece at each table. Then they found pennies that were made in years that kinda represented them birthday years, year they met, year of the wedding etc.. and they had each person write a comment on the paper. They said it was a lot of fun seeing what other people wrote funny or happy.congrats :D...Show more
